svgs again

I have been playing with svg files again and of coursethey come from svgcuts.com I do so love their files and think Mary is a very talented designer. The other thing about their files is they are always nicely finished and Leo and Mary put out a video on how to put them together. I have learnt heaps from just watching their videos. Now as you probably know I have die cutting machines but for those of you who don't many of these files have the pattern you can download and cut by hand.  Today I wanted to do something on the computer but it was not cooperating so I journeyed to the path outside my door to take some photos of the golden carriages and then thought I needed to blog these pics so Madge and friends can see them so here goes.

T-Shirts and singlets- Cricut Explore print and cut

Lets hope the weather improves so they can wear them. The girls love T-shirts with their favourite characters and with the Cricut Explore I have been able to do 'Print and Cut'. These are $4 T-shirts and a $6 for 3 singlet pack. I found the characters that were cut around were much easier to peel off than the square photo I did. Not sure if this was because I left the corners sharp but I am really happy with the way these worked out. Those of you who don't know what a Cricut Explore is check it out here Cricut Explore.

Decoupage with Design Space and the Cricut Explore

As some of you will know I have the Cricut Explore and have been playing with design space, I came across a pad of decoupage which I have had for some years as I am unable to cut all the pieces as my hands seize up using scissors for any length of time. Well- with the print and cut feature of deign scape I scanned the decoupage pictures, edited them in Picasa, uploaded them into design space sized them to suit and got the print and cut feature to do the work for me. here is the end result.
This is the print To save paper I turned it upside down to print the ear.

Newsletter August

Newsletter – August 2014

Oh So Many Crafts
 Madges Creations
Stamp n Scrap

Hi All,

Do hope that you are all cosy and warm crafting in your craft rooms with this cold weather!! Oh wouldn’t that be so lovely. The weather here has been quite cold, with wind, rain and  just  generally wintery – the good news is that September 1st is the first day of spring, yeh!

July was as busy as ever for us – Shirl has been organizing the Retreat – see more info later in this newsletter, Flo has been over to the Hamilton Cricut Club which is doing really great creations, Gisborne is doing well and we are tickety-booing along here in Palmerston North.

Palmerston North:
While we do not have specific ‘open hours’ for shopping  you are welcome to come when it suits you, to browse and pick up any supplies you need. Just give me a quick call to make sure I am not off picking up one of the boys.  If I do not have what you want I will do my best to find it for you.  If you want to give me a call to see if I have what you need, feel free to call me on 3533880 or 0211378157.

Our July card classes went very well with the Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday classes making ‘man’s shirt’ cards and the Thursday class making a Christmas Teddy Bear woggle card.
Shirl was at the Plaza in Palmerston North for a week of the school holidays with ‘ceramic painting’ which the children (and even adults) really love.  It was a busy time. Watch out for her in the Plaza next school holidays – great activity for the children.

2nd and 3rd August we held a Cricut Education Weekend here in Palmerston North and what a wonderful time we had.  Lots of fun and laughter and a whole heap of learning!! We even did glass etching – so cool!!!

Hamilton Cricut Craft Club group has also done glass etching with great results. This small glass bowl was etched then coloured. The Cricut was used to cut the vinyl butterflys to go onto the bowl. Watch for more pics on the blog.

Cricut News
As some of you may know there is a new Cricut machine out called the Cricut Explore. This machine can only be used if you have a high speed internet connection and does not work as a standalone machine as the other Cricut machines do. However as well as being able to cut from the Cricut cartridges linked to your account the Explore software Design Space, imports and cuts .svg, .dxf, .jpg, .gif, .png, and .bmp files and this to many people is what they want to do. If you would like to know more about the Explore contact Flo.

Feeling a bit cold over the last few days I used the Explore to make this svg file of a snowman. (Purchased from svgcuts.com) He has his outside embossed with snowflakes and he has glitter glue painted on his snowflakes to make him shine a bit. The hat is removable and the inside holds treats if you wanted him for this. All the bling came from ‘Madge’s Stash’ ssshh. But isn’t he just soo cute.

Whats coming up:

August Card Classes: 106 Fairs Road, Milson, Palmerston North

Tuesday 12th   10.30am ‘glitter and lace’ with Shirl

Wednesday 11th 6.45  ‘glitter and lace’ with Shirl

Thursday 12th 1.30pm and  6.30pm – ‘spinning card’ with Madge. ($10)

Saturday 14th 10.30am and 1.30pm  ‘glitter and lace’ with Shirl

Scrap Nights:   Every Friday night we will be here for  Scrap nights / cricut nights so you can just choose the Fridays that suit you and come along 5.30pm – 8.30pm
Bookings for classes is important – we do want to make sure we have enough components for everyone to make what we are doing and not have  a heap left over. Also, that we have enough space for everyone to work comfortably.
Bring along your ‘tool kit’ and glue or tape and if you know someone else who may like to join us bring them along too.
Class’s are $5 per person (except Thursday class’s $10)

Cricut Education:
Flo and Madge are going to be in the South Island from 27th August until about 21st September. We will be at the Dunkley Craft shows PLUS we will be holding ‘Cricut Education Nights’. We will be in Christchurch, Dunedin and Invercargill. Hence Tauranga Cricut Club will be on hold for those weeks.  If you know anyone in the South Island that may be interested in learning about their Cricut just get in touch with Flo or I.

!!!RETREAT!!!
22ND to 24th August
Elthem

What a wonderful weekend this will be – crafting, catching up with friends, relaxing!!
Shirl still has a few places left if you have not booked in yet – so be quick and don’t miss out – give Shirl a call or email and book your lovely relaxing weekend with crafter.

SENZ and since

Flo Madge and Raine were at SENZ 2014 in Auckland and it was so awesome to meet so many people. We had a very busy time demonstrating the Cricut expression 2 and also demonstrating the Cricut Explore. We have quite a few new Cricut owners among us now.
Some people took advantage of the classes we held at SENZ and did the Tags Bags Boxes and more 2 class where we made  and scored boxes and made cards and wrote on them with pens in the cricut. Another popular class was vinyl where we cut vinyl on the cricut and then etched small Glass bowls.
The etching paste and cartridges will be listed on the website soon for purchasing.
